We’re excited to welcome Jose Molina to the Traust team as a Senior Oracle APEX Developer and Cloud Database Administrator. Based in Arequipa, Peru, Jose brings deep experience in Oracle Forms, PL/SQL, and APEX development, along with an infectious curiosity and passion for building fast, reliable applications.
Learning by Doing: A Career Built on Real-World Experience
Jose Molina’s technical career began nearly two decades ago in the power generation sector, working for a regional electricity company in southern Peru. It wasn’t a tech company, but it offered Jose something better: the opportunity to wear many hats. He started on the networking side, but soon worked his way into programming and Oracle DBA responsibilities, supporting the company’s Forms and Reports-based ERP and integrating with a variety of third-party tools—including Maximo and Hyland OnBase.
Along the way, Jose honed his backend skills, integrated and maintained complex environments, and learned how to thrive in the kind of challenging, real-world systems that don’t always make it into textbooks. “It was a good company,” Jose said, “it wasn’t a technology company but an industrial one, so I had to learn how to make things work—and keep them working.”
He also credits two talented mentors back then—one in IT project management and the other one on the support team. They helped develop Jose’s Oracle DBA and F&R skills, and both became good friends.
Embracing Oracle APEX for Speed, Structure, and Reliability
In 2017, Jose transitioned full-time into APEX development with an outside consulting firm. “We were given the chance to learn APEX on our own time, and then prove we could use it,” Jose recalled. “I loved it immediately.” He worked on dozens of APEX projects over the years, supporting both front-end and back-end development efforts and leading key implementations for public-sector clients like the Ohio Education Computer Network (OECN). “I liked that one,” he said. “It was meaningful work, and the team was great.”
For Jose, APEX offers the ideal balance of speed, reliability, and structure. “With APEX, you can take an idea from analysis to a working application very quickly. It’s fast, but not sloppy. It’s reliable. And it gives you room to evolve.” That agility is a key reason why Traust continues to invest in our APEX practice—and why Jose felt like a natural fit for our team.
A New Chapter with Traust
But it’s not just the technology that drew him here. “Traust is fascinating not just for the work, but for the people,” Jose said. “The environment is supportive, and there’s room to grow. I can tell this is a place that’s serious about the future—and serious about doing it together.”
Jose sees that future as both challenging and promising. “Technology is accelerating. AI is everywhere. Every industry is changing,” he said. “That means more demand for integrated systems, smarter workflows, and better data access. I think APEX is the right platform for that. And I think Traust is making the right strategic investment.”
Jose Molina Outside the Office: Film Buff, Foodie, Family Man
Outside of work, Jose enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, watching films, and finding new and better restaurants where he can enjoy Peruvian cuisine. A lifelong lover of cinema, he’s especially drawn to science fiction and adaptations of literary classics. “I like movies that come from good books,” he said. “They’re more likely to offer something meaningful—something that leaves you feeling enriched.” He’s even considered starting a blog to review films and explore that interest further.
Jose was born on the Peruvian coast in the small town of Mollendo but grew up in Arequipa, where he still lives today. “We have a volcano,” he noted casually, “but it’s not too active—just a little white smoke now and then.” He studied informatics and computer science at university. He credits his hardworking parents and older sister for their support during his early years and time as a student. And he’s especially grateful to his wife and daughter for their encouragement through every challenge he’s faced as an IT professional.
Looking Ahead: Growth, Challenge, and Teamwork
As for what’s next? Jose is looking forward to supporting new Oracle APEX development initiatives at Traust, tackling complex database challenges, and building long-term client relationships. He sees this as a unique moment for developers like him—where knowledge, curiosity, and community can all come together to create meaningful impact.
“I want to contribute. I want to help Traust grow. And I want to be part of a team that’s growing together,” Jose said. “It’s not just about work. It’s about friendship, team support, and being ready for the challenges ahead.”
We couldn’t agree more. Welcome to the team, Jose. We’re lucky to have you.
