When a user reports an error in your production application, how quickly can you find out what happened? If the message gives you little to work with, you may have to retrace their steps, search through logs, or ask a DBA to retrieve information from production before you can begin addressing the issue.

That search can start over each time the error occurs. A better approach gives users a clear way to report what happened and gives developers the context to find the corresponding error, see whether it has happened before, and track what the team has learned.

In this 45-minute session, Angel Flores will examine where Logger fits alongside native Oracle APEX capabilities and show how to extend Logger to help a team manage errors after they’ve been recorded. In a live demo, he’ll follow an error from a user-facing message and reference code to its technical record, then show how a developer can review repeated occurrences and document the investigation.

What You’ll Learn

  • What application context to capture before an error occurs so it is available when developers need it.
  • How Logger can provide a foundation for custom error management tools.
  • How to connect a user’s reference code to the corresponding technical details.
  • How authorized developers can review production errors without access to change production data.
  • How to group recurring errors and keep track of what the team has investigated.
  • How to weigh logging volume, sensitive information, access, and retention in a production environment.

The webinar is for Oracle APEX developers, development leads, and teams that support applications in production. Prior experience with Logger is not required.
