Traust is excited to welcome Guillermo Hernández to our growing Oracle APEX practice as a Principal Developer and Quality Lead.

Guillermo brings more than a decade of experience with Oracle technologies and has been working in APEX since 2017. Originally trained as a telecommunications engineer in Venezuela, Guillermo discovered his passion for Oracle development early in his career while working at a national telecom company. What started as writing his first SQL queries soon grew into a love for creating solutions that solve complex, real-world problems for organizations serving millions of users.

“I love seeing how our work makes a real impact,” Guillermo said. “Even as a new developer, I could see how code could improve processes and help people. That connection between technical problem-solving and human outcomes has always kept me hooked.”

Building a Culture of Quality

As Quality Lead, Guillermo is helping to shape the foundation of Traust’s APEX development practice — from strengthening internal coding standards and deployment processes to mentoring developers on effective client communication. He’s passionate about creating a shared structure that ensures consistency, collaboration, and craftsmanship across every project.

“Quality isn’t just about the code,” he explained. “It’s about how we work together — how we communicate, how we onboard new developers, and how we continually learn from each project. I want to help create guidelines and training that make our team stronger and our outcomes better.”

A Passion for Collaboration

Guillermo’s approach to development is rooted in teamwork. He believes that the best results come from open collaboration — not only with fellow developers but also with clients. “At the end of the day,” he said, “we’re building relationships as much as software. That human connection is what makes the work meaningful.”

Having worked across industries including higher education, aviation, retail, and food service, Guillermo brings a broad perspective to his consulting role. He’s also an Oracle Certified Developer, with deep experience in PL/SQL and system design.

Life Beyond the Code

Guillermo Hernández, Traust's Principal Developer and Quality Lead, on vacation in Japan. Now based in Montreal, Guillermo first visited the city while working for a previous employer — and quickly fell in love with it. The culture, food, and vibrant sense of community inspired him and his wife to make it their permanent home. Today, they enjoy spending time exploring the city’s neighborhoods, biking along the canal, and soaking up everything Montreal has to offer.

Outside of work, Guillermo is a self-proclaimed foodie, a fan of Japanese anime and manga, and a lifelong bowler who once competed in junior leagues. Though life with a new baby keeps him busy, he still finds time to explore new cuisines and discover fresh flavors.

Looking Ahead

As part of Traust’s APEX leadership team, Guillermo hopes to help define best practices that will guide both current and future developers. “I want to create something lasting,” he said. “A structure that helps everyone — from experienced consultants to new hires — do their best work and deliver great results for our clients.”

Welcome to the team, Guillermo. We’re thrilled to have you at Traust.
